Blue Jackets Dealt Blow With Laine Injury

The Columbus Blue Jackets are going to be without their best goal scorer for roughly a couple of months as Patrik Laine is out with an oblique strain.

The initial injury report from the team states four-to-six weeks after the injury occurred on Wednesday against the Colorado Avalanche. So far this season, Laine has recorded three goals and 10 points in nine games. Laine's enjoyed a nice bounce back season in Columbus after the first one didn't go so well last year.

The Blue Jackets currently sit at 6-3-0 on the season and will have to score goals by committee. The team has lit the lamp 28 times in their first 9 games in 2021-22.

There was a giant spotlight on Laine's back to start this season so it's certainly a bummer this injury occurred. He obviously wasn't performing well under John Tortorella and even with Brad Larsen running the bench in Columbus now, the two had a history of heated arguments while Larsen was an assistant. For now, nothing to worry about as Laine is back to his old self and will begin to rehab his injury.
