Bowen Byram Leaves Game With Upper-Body Injury
The injury bug just isn't leaving the Colorado Avalanche alone. After taking catching an elbow to the face from Vancouver Canucks captain Bo Horvat, Bowen Byram left the game with an upper-body injury and did not return.
After the game, Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar told reporters that Byram would be reevaluated on Friday to determine if he has a concussion.Byram to the Avs dressing room after taking an unpenalized elbow to the head from Horvat pic.twitter.com/T4kgxo2OBe

This is very concerning for Byram. After taking a high hit last season from Vegas Golden Knights forward Keegan Kolesar, he would end up missing a significant amount of due to a concussion. He went on to play just 19 total games and had two assists.Jared Bednar didn't have an update on Bowen Byram. They'll re-evaluate him in the morning, check his symptoms and see if he has a concussion. #Avs

If Byram misses serious time, it would be very sad to see. The 20-year-old is breaking out right in front of our eyes this year. In 11 games, he already has three goals and eight points. The 2019 fourth overall pick has a plethora of potential and he seems to be reaching it.
The Avalanche are already without star Nathan MacKinnon as well, so losing Byram would be a major loss. Keep in mind, Colorado has been off to a slow start this season, as evidenced by their 5-5-1 record.
We will have to wait and see what happens with Byram, but we definitely hope the kid is alright.
