Brady Tkachuk Named Captain Of The Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators have named Brady Tkachuk as the tenth captain of their franchise history. He will be the first player to wear the C for the Senators since Erik Karlsson did during the 2017-18 season.
It was apparent for months that Tkachuk was the frontrunner to be the next captain of the Senators. However, his contract negotiations this off-season delayed the inevitable and even carried over into the regular season. However, once they were able to locked him up to his seven-year, $57.5 million contract, fans knew this was coming.News! The Senators drafted Tkachuk with the fourth overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, he has been a very good player who provides a bit of everything on the ice. Besides being able to produce offense, he also is one of the most tenacious forwards in the league. Thus, he's not a bad player to build around.
In 205 career games thus far with the Senators, Tkachuk has 62 goals, 67 assists, 129 points and a whopping 271 penalty minutes. In seven games this season, he has two goals and four points. He also is continuing to play with a real edge, as evidenced by his 21 penalty minutes.
Nonetheless, congrats to Brady for earning himself the C!
