Calgary Flames Pissed Off at the Buffalo Sabres Over False Rumors
The Calgary Flames are calling the Buffalo Sabres bluff. The Flames are apparently pretty pissed off over the false rumors that were published by Kevin Weekes regarding Matthew Tkachuk being offered in a trade for Jack Eichel.
Word is Weekes was informed by Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams to send out the rumored offer and the kicker here is the two played together back in the day for the Carolina Hurricanes. Adams was reportedly using Weekes as a pawn to get the word out so Vegas would shore up their final offer that included top prospect Peyton Krebs.
Friedman on 32TP: "It's pretty obvious the Flames are blaming Adams for this because him and Kevin Weekes used to play together"

Eichel of course was finally dealt to the Vegas Golden Knights and now the rest is history. Tkachuk has spoken with Flames general manager Brad Treliving and apparently was told he was never in the discussion. The Flames are rolling and off to a fine start this season so there's some doubt they were ever at the 'one-yard line' like was reported by ESPN.
Rumor has it Sean Monahan was someone that was discussed by Calgary in preliminary discussions with the Flames however once they asked for either Tkachuk or Andrew Mangiapane to be included, Treliving backed off.
As for the Sabres, players are seeing their battle with Eichel as a giant red flag and they are going to have serious trouble recruiting players in free agency. Doesn't matter how good Alex Tuch ends up being in Bufallo...
