Carolina Hurricanes Lose Two Key Defensemen
The Carolina Hurricanes found out on Monday they will be playing at least their next game without two of their best defensemen. Both Brett Pesce and Anthony DeAngelo have been placed on the COVID-19 protocol list and are unavailable for the 'Canes next game against the Dallas Stars.
Brett Pesce and Tony DeAngelo have entered the COVID protocols. They will remain in Raleigh to quarantine and continue to be monitored by the #Canes medical staff as the team travels to Dallas today.

The Hurricanes and Stars will battle it out on Tuesday night but Carolina is now certainly shorthanded for the affair. Brutal news for the right-side of the team's defense as these two join Ethan Bear who has already missed the last four games after entering protocol during the team's west-coast trip.
Carolina head coach Rod Brind'Amour recently chatted with the media about the health concerns and had this to say:
Your other question is the one that we worry about with the nature of it. When you look around the league, it’s very rare that one guy gets it. It’s just an unfortunate thing that everybody is dealing with. We’ll take it as it comes, I guess.
Expect to see the Hurricanes make a couple of callups as they are about to face the Stars this week without their top three right-handed defensemen. The likes of Joey Keane, Maxime Lajoie and Jesper Sellgren are three candidates who could be called up from their American Hockey League affiliate.
