Derick Brassard Fined $2,000 For Unsportsmanlike Conduct

NHL Player Safety has fined Philadelphia Flyers forward Derick Brassard $2,000 for Unsportsmanlike Conduct in Saturday night's contest against the Washington Capitals.

For those of you who missed it, Brassard punched Washington Capitals forward Garnet Hathaway while he was on the bench.

There's no question that Hathaway is a player who is known for his tenacious style of play and agitating nature, but Brassard certainly is in the wrong for this. Players who are not on the ice cannot disrupt the flow of play, let alone throw unsuspected punches.

Ultimately, it's understandable as to why Brassard received a fine for his actions. When the Capitals and Flyers play next on December 21st, perhaps these two can settle the score on the ice. Don't be surprised to see Hathaway go right at him.
