Devils Coach Lindy Ruff Calls Out Minnesota Wild
Here's something you don't see very often. The Minnesota Wild and New Jersey Devils matched up against each other on Wednesday night, but only one issue, the Wild got stuck in traffic and were late for the game.
They then went on to beat the Devils in a shootout 3-2 on a night where Wild netminder Cam Talbot made 42 saves. After the game, Devils head coach Lindy Ruff was asked about having to wait on the Wild to show up and he wasn't shy with his comments:
In my opinion, it’s a little irresponsible on their part. We did have a couple of good looks. We did have a couple that was frustrating on the entry. We made some tough decisions, but that’s stuff that we’re just going to continue to keep working on. I think we hit a post on a power player, I think we hit an open net on a power play. We've just got to keep believing that if we keep working at it, it’s going to get better.
The delay lasted 24 minutes as the Wild were stuck in holiday traffic in Manhattan with the Holland Tunnel closed. The delay obviously only effected the Devils and Minnesota seemed to be totally fine, playing a solid road game and not showing any ill effects. Pretty solid performance considering they had a 2 1/2 hour bus ride from the hotel to the arena.
The Wild will try to be on time when they host the Winnipeg Jets on Friday. Here's the highlights from the game:
