Edmonton Oilers Forward Out for Over a Month

The Edmonton Oilers are going to be without one of their depth forwards for awhile as Devin Shore will be sidelined for four-to-six weeks with a lower-body injury.

The injury occurred on Friday night when the Oilers hosted the New York Rangers. Shore has been used sparingly this season in Edmonton as he's only averaging 8:37 of ice time a night. It's tough news and timing for Shore as he just scored his first goal of the season earlier in the week and sits with two points in eight games.

Shore was signed to a to a two-year deal with the Oilers back in June, paying the 27-year-old $950,000 per season. Shore's familiarity with head coach Dave Tippett is one of the many reasons he was signed in the first place and even though he hasn't found the score sheet as much as he'd like, Shore's playing a nice role for the Oil.

In 334 career games, the former Dallas Stars' second-round pick has recorded 117 points.
