Flames' Matthew Tkachuk Comments on Recent Trade Rumors
The Calgary Flames were left at the alter when it comes to trade talks with the Buffalo Sabres regarding Jack Eichel. Reports were flying out stating the Flames were willing to deal forward Matthew Tkachuk in the deal and Tkachuk admitted while he heard the noise, it didn't bother him one bit.
Tkachuk who has posted five goals and two assists in his first 10 games this season, spoke to the media about the potential deal to Buffalo and has this to say on the rumors:
I’m sure it’s different for everybody, but I had a hard time believing it was true so I just went about my business like I normally do the night before a game…He talked to me about it, but we’ll just keep that between us. All good.
Kevin Weekes reported earlier this week that the Flames were offering Tkachuk, a former first round pick and two draft picks. While these reports were never confirmed by either side, some others in the media believed it was actually Sean Monahan who was being offered and not Tkachuk. At this point, who really cares.
As for Tkachuk, he's due a $9 million qualifying offer next offseason and there's certainly a chance he could be playing somewhere else. Well, as we know now, it won't be Buffalo.
