Maple Leafs Make Roster Change Ahead of Flyers Game

The Toronto Maple Leafs are coming off a 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings and will have a familiar face back in the lineup on Wednesday when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers. Defenseman Justin Holl is back in, and Travis Dermott is out.

There's been a number of reports that the Maple Leafs are talking trade with several teams and the names being mentioned are of course, Holl and Dermott. The Leafs are looking to use their depth on defense to upgrade their forward group and so far it seems more teams are interested in adding Dermott than Holl.

The 29-year-old Holl has been a healthy scratch for basically the past two weeks and has appeared in seven games so far this season and has yet to record a point. He's a minus -7 over that span. Holl has one year left on his contract, paying him $2 million. You'd think being right-handed would ensure more teams are interested in he over Dermott, but that's apparently not the case.

Dermott is also signed through next season, but at a little bit less of $1.6 million. At 24 and with his skating ability and hockey sense, he's become an attractive trade chip for Toronto.

The Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings are all teams to watch when it comes to the Maple Leafs next move.
