Matt Murray Yet to Hear from Senators GM
Matt Murray was put on waivers by the Ottawa Senators over the weekend after being scratched from Friday night's game against the Anaheim Ducks. The news went viral quick and Murray didn't appreciate how he found out. Murray also has yet to hear from Senators general manager Pierre Dorion.
I’m going to delete that original tweet because I do think was unfair to Pierre Dorion.

He was in the room when Murray was informed he was being placed on waivers.
But for context, here is part my exchange with Matt Murray. pic.twitter.com/DOxRxBR5Ae
It's rare you see someone moved off the team and never has a conversation with the general manager. Murray signed a four-year deal with the Senators back in Oct.2020 and has not lived up to the expectations that have come with his $6.25 million per season price tag.
There was interest from a couple of teams including the Buffalo Sabres and Arizona Coyotes, however that's more so on the trade market where the Sens would be on the hook to retain some salary. Nobody around the league wanted to pay full price for Murray when he's winless this season with a 3.26 GAA and a .890 save %.
For now, look for Murray to get some reps with the Belleville Senators and look to get his game back on track. He was an elite netminder for four-plus seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins, winning two Stanley Cups. Great to hear he's in a positive mindset at the moment and we'll all rooting for Murray to get his career back on track.
