It's very hard to argue against NHL Player Safety's decision with this one. This was a blatant hit to the head by Sergachev and Marner had already lost control of the puck after being hooked by Victor Hedman. Thus, there was no reason for Sergachev to throw that hit at all.
The Lightning will now be without the 23-year-old defenseman for their contests against the Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes. When seeing as how the Hurricanes have a 9-0-0 at this time, it certainly is not good for the Lightning to lose one of their best defensemen for it.
Do you feel that the number of games Sergachev will miss is fair for his hit? Let us know in the comments!
