Montreal Canadiens Call Up Top Prospect

The Montreal Canadiens have recalled top prospect Cole Caufield from the Laval Rocket. They also have sent down forward Alex Belzile.

Caufield began the season with the Canadiens, but was off to a very slow start. In 10 games, he only had an assist along with a -3 rating. With Laval, however, he rebounded nicely, as he scored two goals and recorded five points in six games.

Caufield will be looking to recapture the magic he had during last season. In 10 regular season games with Montreal, he scored four goals and added an assist. However, he was even more impressive during the postseason, as he scored four goals and recorded 12 points during the Canadiens' run.

Sometimes young players hit rough patches in their development, so the trip to the AHL ultimately made sense at the time. Yet, now the 20-year-old forward has earned himself a spot with the NHL squad again. Don't be surprised to see him score a goal very quickly from here.
