New Jersey Devils Forward Out Indefinitely

The New Jersey Devils have announced that Miles Wood had surgery on his right hip and will be out indefinitely.

Wood was injured in the Devils' October 4th contest against the Washington Capitals. He has been unable to return to the team since then and has missed the entirety of the regular season thus far.

This is such a tough blow for the Devils, as Wood is a very important player for then. He is one of their alternate captains and is a true heart-and-soul kind of player. He's always noticeable on the ice because of his hard work ethic and tenacious style of play. That's something the Devils miss immensely right now.

In 55 games last season, he scored 17 goals and recorded 25 points. Thus, he provides solid goal-scoring for them, too.

The Devils certainly could use Wood. They have a respectable 5-3-2 record, but due to the strength of the Metropolitan Division, they are currently tied for sixth place. One prolonged losing streak could be very detrimental for them.

Lastly, we'd like to wish Wood a speedy recovery.
