New Jersey Devils Place Goaltender On Waivers

The New Jersey Devils have placed goaltender Scott Wedgewood on waivers. This comes after the news that MacKenzie Blackwood was taken off of injured reserve.

With the Devils signing Jonathan Bernier this summer, every fan knew Wedgewood would be playing in the AHL this season. Thus, it is understandable to see him being sent back down. The injury bug hit the Devils' net early this season, so he was able to get into a few games for the team. In three contests this season with them, he had a 0-2-1 record and .880 SV%.

Teams who having some injury trouble in goal could decide to claim the 29-year-old. Although he isn't a huge name, he does did suit up in 16 games with the Devils last season. In them, he had a 3-8-3 record and .900 SV%.

Perhaps the Arizona Coyotes could make a reunion happen between the two parties, as Carter Hutton will be out for the next couple weeks. Wedgewood did play 20 games for them during the 2017-18 season, so he is a familiar face.
