Komarov played one game for the Islanders this season and was held off the scoresheet. From here, he was waived by the team and sent to the Bridgeport Islanders. However, he never reported due to an undisclosed injury.
With the contract termination, the Islanders will gain $3 million worth of cap space. This is certainly a major plus of the move, it will be easier for them to make additions as the season progresses.
Komarov was in the final year of a four-year, $12 million contract with the Islanders. Due to the team's forward depth, he no longer had a spot in the lineup. In 164 total games with the Islanders, Komarov had 11 goals, 37 assists and 48 points.
Lastly, good luck in the KHL, Leo!
