Ottawa Senators Claim Forward Off Waivers
The Ottawa Senators have claimed forward Adam Gaudette off waivers from the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Senators are currently the bottom of the NHL standings, so they were allowed to put a claim in for Gaudette before every other team. It ultimately is a move that makes sense, as the Senators have had a rough go of things with both injuries and illness.OTT claims Adam Gaudette

This is a very good opportunity for Gaudette to bounce back. The Senators aren't necessarily known for their deep forward depth at this time, so he should have himself a permanent spot in their lineup. In eight games this season with the Blackhawks, he had a goal and an assist. However, during the 2018-19 season, he had 12 goals and 33 points in 59 games with the Vancouver Canucks. Thus, the potential for the 25-year-old to be a very solid top-nine forward could still very well be there.
If Gaudette rebounds, the Senators could elect to sign him to an extension or even trade him at the deadline. Ultimately, there's no harm in giving him a shot.
