Rumor: Calgary Flames Defenseman May Ask for Trade

The Calgary Flames are one of the best teams in the league at the moment as head coach Darryl Sutter has his team playing a shutdown game that includes limiting scoring chances. Since the team is winning it's been hard for certain players to find playing time and defenseman Juuso Valimaki specifically. After his latest rant, it sounds like a trade request could be next.

Valimaki has only appeared in seven games so far this season and has recorded one assist. His playing time has been all over the place when it does dress and it sounds like he's having a hard time adjusting to Sutter's demanding coaching style. The 23-year-old d-man had this to say recently about his situation in Calgary:

There have been so many games in recent years due to injuries that now it feels pretty stupid that I am healthy and would be able to play, but it is not given. I think the games went really well. I have also received feedback from many different directions that my playing looked much better than last year. Last season was the same for the rest of the season. For the rest of the season, we no longer even had a stake in the games, but I was still in the stands at times. I thought this would be the end of it, and that’s what it looked like at the beginning of the season. But no.

He(Sutter) is known to be fierce for young players and treats a little so that everyone has to earn and pay off the so-called youth debt. But as a coach, he is good and has got a lot out of the team. He can bring things to it.

Sounds like this is a situation to watch as the Flames are 8-3-4 on the season and could have a trade demand coming soon to deal with.
