Rumor: Calgary Flames Open to Moving Veteran Forward
The Calgary Flames surprised us all when they kicked tires on Jack Eichel. The team on the ice is off to a fine start in 2021-22 and expect to see some moves from the Flames later on this season.
General manager Brad Treliving has shown in the past he's not afraid to spend money in the offseason or move out a coach if need be, but he's been shy to pull the trigger on a big trade lately. That could be changing and soon.
While all the rumors were about Matthew Tkachuk it was actually Sean Monahan who would have been included in the Eichel deal. The former first-round pick has struggled and been inconsistent these past couple of seasons, and it's happening again this year.So far in 12 games, Monahan has two goals and five points. This is after he only recorded 28 points in 50 games last season. For over $6 million the Flames are expecting more. Monahan has one year left on his deal after this season and no-trade protection that can keep him away from 10 teams of his choice.
Woof. We've been thinking that Sean Monahan is overrated player among hockey insiders, but this is even still surprise for us. He's really so bad this year so far. Maybe the Flames should consider trading him sooner rather than later. Let's hope a changing scenery would help him. pic.twitter.com/zZ51xfhykI

Teams to keep an eye on include the New Jersey Devils, Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Boston Bruins who have shown some interest in the past and could use Monahan on their second-line.
