Trade Rumor: Chicago Blackhawks To Move Multiple Players

After a busy summer, the Chicago Blackhawks have disappointed mightily and sport a 2-9-2 record. Due to this, players with expiring contracts like Marc-Andre Fleury, Dominik Kubalik, Kevin Lankinen, Calvin de Haan and Ryan Carpenter will likely be dealt if they continue to trend in this direction, according to Scott Powers.

It's hard to argue against this possibility. It's immensely difficult to recover from this horrible of a start and it would be beneficial for them to bring in assets for players they could lose via free agency.

Marc-Andre Fleury has been linked to the Edmonton Oilers due to their questions in goal. However, the reigning Vezina Trophy winner has struggled this season. He has a 1-7-0 record, 4.11 GAA and .881 SV%. He seems to be bouncing back as of late, though.

Kubalik is an interesting name to see entering the rumor mill, as he is set to become a restricted free agent. However, he also is 26 years old and isn't too far away from UFA eligibility. In 13 games this season, he has three goals and six points. He did score 30 goals as a rookie two years ago, so teams certainly would be interested in him.

Lankinen did well as a rookie last season, as he had a 17-14-5 record and .909 SV%. Yet, he is 26 years old and is a pending UFA, unlike Kubalik. If he can replicate the success he had last season now, he could be due for a nice raise on the open market. Teams looking for more depth in goal could consider him.

As we previously reported, de Haan is now being linked to the New York Rangers. He can be a solid bottom-pair defenseman, but is off to a rough start this year. In 13 games, he has no points and a -7 rating.

Lastly, Carpenter is a depth forward who can play bottom-six minutes. In 10 games this season, he has an assist and a -4 rating. If Chicago were to trade him, it would likely be a draft pick in the later rounds.
