Trade Rumor: Vegas Golden Knights Shopping Forward
The Vegas Golden Knights are expected to move forward Mattias Janmark before star Jack Eichel returns, according to Owen Krepps of Vegas Hockey Now.
This ultimately makes sense, as Vegas is projected to be more than $7 million over the salary cap once Eichel is officially clear to play. Given the fact that Janmark has a $2 million cap hit and an expiring contract, he is a prime candidate to be dealt.
The Golden Knights acquired Janmark from the Chicago Blackhawks at last season's trade deadline for a 2021 second-round pick and 2022 third-round pick. With Chicago, he was having a career year, as he scored 10 goals and had 19 points in 41 games. However, things cooled off mightily for him after joining Vegas and he hasn't been able to regroup.
In 14 games this season with Vegas, he has a goal and three points. With that, he sports a minus-3 rating.
It will be interesting to see what the Golden Knights do to fix their salary cap issues, but don't be surprised to see Janmark as one of the players who ends up being dealt.
