Vancouver Canucks Getting Trade Calls on These 2 Players

There's turmoil in Vancouver as the Canucks have been disappointing on the ice and there's plenty going on off the ice. Rumor has it the team has been getting a ton of calls about the availability of some players, and it's not necessarily who you think it is.

Backup goaltender Jaroslav Halak and depth forward Tyler Motte are two Canucks who the team has received trade calls on. Both players are unrestricted free-agents at the end of the season and could help a playoff bound team add some depth.

Halak, 36, is in his first season in Vancouver after signing a one-year deal worth $1.5 million. The contract comes with a $1.25 million bonus if he plays in 10 games and a $250,000 bonus if his save % stays over .905. He holds a no-movement clause but Halak would be open to moving to the right team. There's a number of playoff bound teams who are going to look at Halak as a security blanket. So far in five games Halak holds a 2.79 GAA and a .903 save %.

As for Motte, he's a rugged winger who is still only 26 and is in the final season of his contract, making $1.22 million. Known for his speed and abilities on the forecheck, Motte has appeared in six games this season and has recorded two points. His best season came back in 2018-19 when he recorded 16 points in 74 games. It won't cost much more than a mid-round pick for Motte so expect to see him moved sometime before the trade deadline.

Changes are coming in Van City and it could certainly start or finish with these two players.
