Video: Adam Boqvist Scores First With Columbus Blue Jackets
Adam Boqvist is viewed as a big part of the Columbus Blue Jackets' future. On Monday night against the Detroit Red Wings, he scored his first goal as a member of the team.
This was a very important goal for Boqvist, as he failed to record a point in his first five games with the team. Furthermore, it was the first time he played since late October after getting injured against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Boqvist was one of the main pieces who came back from the Seth Jones trade with the Chicago Blackhawks during the offseason. The 21-year-old defenseman was taken 8th overall by Chicago during the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and is viewed as having an immense amount of potential.
He's already shown signs of that in the NHL, too. In 76 games with the Blackhawks over two seasons, he had six goals and 29 points. However, last season was a big step forward for him, as he scored two goals and recorded 16 points in 35 games.
Here's to hoping this is the beginning of a nice hot streak for the young defenseman.
