Video: Blackhawks' DeBrincat And Kraken's Gourde Have Huge Fight
Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat is known around the league as a sniper. His nine goals in 16 games this season is a great example of that. However, last night against the Seattle Kraken, he showed fans that he can fight, too. He handled himself very well in a scrap with Seattle Kraken forward Yanni Gourde.
So, how did we get to a point where DeBrincat fought? Simple. First, Gourde hit him in the back of the head behind the net. Then the feisty Kraken forward cross-checked Patrick Kane while skating down the ice. This led DeBrincat to stand up for his teammate.
DeBrincat showed solid leadership qualities by doing this. That's always very promising to see from a 23-year-old star.
It's clear that Gourde was simply trying to pump up his team with his actions. They were playing a bit flat at that point and were losing to the Blackhawks 2-0 during the third period. In the end, it did seem to work, as the Kraken came close to tying the game. Gourde even scored and put them one goal behind Chicago. However, Jake McCabe sank the Kraken by putting the Blackhawks up 4-2. This would be the final score.
Nonetheless, this was a fun tilt to watch. It's always entertaining when two of the smaller players in the league fight. This is especially true when they each get in some very good punches in the process.
