Video: Blue Jackets' Yegor Chinakhov Scores First NHL Goal
Columbus Blue Jackets forward Yegor Chinakhov scored his first NHL goal on Monday night against the Detroit Red Wings. The 20-year-old winger received a quick pass from Jakub Voracek and buried it past Thomas Greiss on the breakaway.
Chinakhov is one of Columbus' top prospects and is viewed as a huge part of their future. It's exactly why the Blue Jackets went off the board and selected him with the 21st overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft in the first place. In his short sample size thus far, he's certainly looked good.
In nine games with the Blue Jackets this season, he now has the goal and three assists. That's honestly a very solid start for the kid and he has all the tools to improve from here.
The Blue Jackets are continuing to impress this season as a whole, too. After Chinakhov tied the game, Columbus scored two more times and defeated the Red Wings by a 5-3 final score. With that, they now have an 8-5-0 record. That is fantastic given all the core players they have traded over the last year.
