Video: Kevin Hayes Scores And Points To Sky
In Tuesday night's game against the Calgary Flames, Philadelphia Flyers forward Kevin Hayes scored on Jacob Markstrom. Immediately after, Hayes pointed to the sky and patted his chest.
This was an important goal for the Flyers, as it tied the game up. Yet, there was far more to it than just that. It was also such an emotional moment, too, as Hayes pointed to the sky to pay respect to his brother. Former NHL player Jimmy Hayes tragically passed away over the summer at just 31 years old.
This was Kevin's first goal since Jimmy's passing. The 29-year-old center missed the start of the regular season after having abdominal surgery right before the start of training camp. This was just his second game back with the team, so it was great to see him get on the board so quickly. He also had an assist in his season debut against the Dallas Stars.
Nonetheless, this is the kind of hockey moment fans will remember forever.
