Video: Mark Borowiecki Knees Dmitrij Jaskin
Nashville Predators defenseman Mark Borowiecki was ejected from Saturday night's contest against the Arizona Coyotes for kneeing forward Dmitrij Jaskin. After the play, Antoine Roussel immediately stood up for his teammate and dropped the gloves with Borowiecki.
In total, Borowiecki ended up receiving 20 penalty minutes for the major kneeing penalty, fight and ejection. Roussel wasn't too far behind him, as he racked up 17 penalty minutes on the play. Not only was he called for fighting, but also was handed an instigator minor and game misconduct.
When looking at Borowiecki's hit, though, it will be interesting to see if he ends up being suspended for it. It is always hard to predict what NHL Player Safety will do, of course.
One also could argue that Jaskin cutting towards the middle left him in a vulnerable position, as Borowiecki already had committed to the hit. Either way, that's just bad luck for the winger at the end of the day and we hope he's okay.
