Video: Nick Ritchie Enjoys His First Fight as a Toronto Maple Leaf
The Toronto Maple Leafs fan base has been all over Nick Ritchie to start producing more and on a day where the team traded for Kyle Clifford, Ritchie decided it was the perfect time to drop his gloves for the first time in blue and white.
The scrap with Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron was a intense bout that saw Ritchie come away with the decision after a flurry of early punches. The big hard-nosed winger has recently been promoted to the top-line with Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews and certainly has a spotlight shining bright on him to perform better in Toronto after signing a two-year deal worth $2.5 million per season. So far in 17 games he is yet to score and has recorded two assists.
The soon-to-be 26-year-old from Orangeville, Ontario picked the perfect spot for his first tilt. First period of a 1-0 game and wouldn't you know the Maple Leafs were sparked by the fight, ending in a 3-0 result on Tuesday night. Here's Ritchie's first fight as a Leaf:
