Video: Phillip Danault Given Ovation By Canadiens' Fans

On Tuesday night, Phillip Danault returned to Bell Centre for the first time since signing with the Los Angeles Kings. In a very classy move, he went on to salute the Montreal Canadiens fans and they followed with a standing ovation for their former center. It's hard not to love these moments in hockey.

The Canadiens acquired Danault from the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2015-16 season when he was stuck as a fringe NHLer. However, the move would pay off amazingly for him, as Montreal gave him more opportunities to succeed and he took full advantage. From here, he became a very effective two-way forward.

In six seasons with the Canadiens, Danault had 54 goals, 140 assists and 194 points in 360 games. His best offensive season occurred during the 2018-19 campaign when he recorded 12 goals and 53 points. However, he also was a fantastic defensive forward for them during their last playoff run, too.
