Video: Toronto Maple Leafs Score Weirdest Goal Of Season
In Saturday night's game against the Buffalo Sabres, the Toronto Maple Leafs scored one of the strangest goals you'll ever see. After forward David Kampf lost control of the puck in front of the net, it hit John Hayden's skate and very slowly made its way past Aaron Dell.
Not only was this the first goal of the game for the Maple Leafs, but also technically their first shot. With it, Kampf now has two goals and an assist in 16 total games this season.
Although this goal wasn't technically the game-winner, it does now seem to be a backbreaker for Buffalo. The Sabres lost by a 5-4 final score, so fans will automatically think about how this puck somehow ended up in the net.
Nonetheless, the Maple Leafs are staying red hot right now, as they have won three straight and are just two points behind the first place Florida Panthers in the Atlantic Division. That's not bad at all, especially when remembering the Leafs had a slow start to the year. Buffalo, on the other hand, now have a 6-6-2 record. Still, that's a lot better than fans thought they'd be after their summer of selling.
