Video: Winnipeg Jets' Josh Morrissey Fined For Wild Slash
The NHL Department of Player Safety has fined Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey $5000 for his vicious slash on Columbus Blue Jackets forward Alexandre Texier.
Winnipeg’s Josh Morrissey has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for Slashing Columbus’ Alexandre Texier.

The play occurred on the empty net goal as the Blue Jackets defeated the Jets 3-0. Some are calling for a bigger penalty as Morrissey basically took a two-handed tomahawk slash at Texier's feet. It's certainly sparked the debate about having harsher penalties for these types of infractions.
Max Domi of the Blue Jackets was also fined from Wednesday's game, his also $5000 but for unsportsmanlike conduct. The 26-year-old has two goals and eight points in seven games for the Blue Jackets this season. Morrissey has three goals and eight points in 19 games for Winnipeg in 2021-22.Disgusting play by Morrissey here.

How many games should he be suspended for, if any?🤔

He got a $5,000k fine for this, which is trash. This stuff on an empty-netter should come with an automatic one-game suspension or the precedent is once you’ve lost the game just do whatever you want. https://t.co/PGoyldxCvu
