,The injury bug just won't leave the Capitals alone this season. At this juncture, Nicklas Backstrom and T.J. Oshie are already out. Thus, they are losing another key forward.
The Capitals acquired Mantha at the trade deadline last season for Jakub Vrana, Richard Panik a 2021 first-round pick and 2022 second-round pick. In 24 games as a Capital thus far, he has six goals and 14 points.
The Capitals currently have a 5-1-4 record. Although they technically have lost half of their games, it certainly doesn't hurt that four of them occurred in overtime. As a result of this, they are in third place in the Metropolitan Division. However, they have a new test with Mantha being out. With this division being so competitive, one prolonged losing streak could lead to trouble.
