Washington Capitals Make Big Decision With Top Prospect

The Washington Capitals have sent forward Hendrix Lapierre back to the QMJHL. He will playing with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
Lapierre made the Capitals after a strong training camp. In total, he played in six games with the team and had a very memorable first goal. However, that would be his lone point with the NHL team.

The Capitals selected Lapierre with the 22nd overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He wasn't necessarily expected to make the team so quickly, but Nicklas Backstrom's injury helped him out in that regard. However, the 19-year-old has a very bright future and should be back with the NHL team next season.

Due to the fact that Lapierre didn't suit up in 10 games with the Capitals, he did not burn off a year on his entry-level contract. Thus, he will still have three years left on his deal.

In the QMJHL last season with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens, he had eight goals and 31 points. Now that he has some NHL experience under his belt, it won't be surprising to see his totals go up significantly there.
