2 Anaheim Ducks Prospects Who Could Get Called Up This Season
As the season gets underway, players will begin to suffer injuries as they sacrifice their bodies for the sake of their team, not to mention the ever-present concern of a positive Covid diagnosis. Eventually, there will be players who will need to miss games, and others will need to be called in to replace them in the lineup. Here are two such prospects who could see some playing time on the Anaheim Ducks this season.
Jacob Perreault
A good trick to getting yourself called up to an NHL team is to lead their AHL affiliate in scoring, and that's exactly what Jacob Perrault is doing. The 27th overall pick from 2020 has 8 goals and 17 points in 19 games with the San Diego Gulls, tying his point total from 29 games last season and nearly tripling his goal-scoring rate. The kid has a release like few others in the AHL, and he can basically score from anywhere. Forehand, backhand, from his knees, you name it. He's also the son of 859-NHL game NHL vet Yannic Perreault, putting some pedigree behind his name before he steps foot in the show. Oh, and in case you were doubting if Perreault can really score from anywhere, here he is scoring a Michigan goal last month. The Ducks now have two guys that can do this.

Mason McTavish
Since he already got his first look at the NHL this season, and looked pretty good doing it, Mason McTavish is the kind of guy that is going to show up in the NHL again eventually. That said, McTavish was assigned to the OHL's Peterborough Petes late last month, which would normally make him ineligible for a call-up until the OHL's season ended. That all changes with his being named to Team Canada's World Junior roster. Assuming he has a strong performance in this Winter's tournament, the Ducks can call him up upon the conclusion of the tournament. He's already scored 5 goals in 4 games in the OHL to go along with his 9 PIMs, which means his Brad Marchand-esque playstyle hasn't changed a bit. If he brings that along with him to the WJC, he's got a good shot of joining the Ducks' on their surprising upswing this season.
