Alex Ovechkin Ties Dave Andreychuk's Power-Play Goals Record
Another day, another milestone for Alex Ovechkin. In Wednesday night's game against the Chicago Blackhawks, he scored the 274th power play goal of his career. With that, he's now tied with Dave Andreychuk for most all-time.
Ovechkin's signature one-timer has made him unstoppable on the power play, so it isn't surprising at all to see him now tied at the top of the list. The future Hall of Famer will surely pass Andreychuk this season, but time will tell when exactly that will be. Knowing how consistent Ovechkin is, it wouldn't be shocking at all for it to be in Washington's next contest.
In 29 games this season, Ovechkin now has 21 goals and 46 points. It's been an MVP caliber season for the 36-year-old winger and he isn't showing a single sign of slowing down. He is now at 751 career goals as well and only needs 15 more to tie Jaromir Jagr for third all-time. That shouldn't take him much longer.
Nevertheless, congrats to Alex on another historic achievement!
