Avalanche Receive Marvelous News Ahead Of Wednesday's Game
Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar has announced that goaltender Darcy Kuemper will be returning for Wednesday night's game against the New York Rangers.
Kuemper has been out with an upper-body injury and has not played since November 26th when Colorado faced the Dallas Stars. His absence was quite notable, as the Avalanche of course are already without backup goalie Pavel Francouz. As a result of this, they were forced to run a tandem of Jonas Johansson and Justus Annunen. Each of those goaltenders have save percentages under .890 this season, but even with that, they were still able to win due to their dominant offense.
Kuemper hasn't necessarily been off to the hottest of starts with the Avalanche, though. In 15 games, he has a 9-5-0 record, 2.84 GAA and .903 SV%. However, when remembering that he's had at least a .925 SV% in multiple seasons, he certainly is capable of rebounding from here.
Nonetheless, it's great to see that Colorado will be getting back their starting goaltender. At this time, they have a 13-7-2 record and are just one point behind the Nashville Predators for third place in the Central Division.
