Don Granato is unsure of the timetable as of now.
After a very solid 22-point campaign in 41 games last season, there was a lot of optimism regarding Mittelstadt. The 2017 first-round pick was starting to show signs of progression. Yet, this season has brought upon now multiple injuries for him. He's been limited to just four games, where he had a goal and a minus-6 rating.
It's difficult not to feel bad for Mittelstadt, as it it seemed that he was on the cusp of becoming that top-six forward that many envisioned he would be. However, this is now a massive setback and all we can hope for is that he will be able to return at some point during this season.
With Mittelstadt out long-term, let's see how Buffalo's other forwards continue to do.
