Colorado Avalanche Goaltender Set To Return
The Colorado Avalanche have recalled goaltender Pavel Francouz from the Colorado Eagles. The 31-year-old was on a conditioning stint with the AHL team.
This is massive news, as Francouz has not played for the Avalanche since the 2019-20 season due to injury trouble. He was fantastic for Colorado during that campaign, as he sported a 21-7-4 record, 2.41 GAA and .923 SV%. It also is very important to note that this was his first full season in the NHL, so it's fair to say he impressed immensely during it.
Francouz returning to the lineup really couldn't have come at a better time for the Avalanche. At this juncture, Colorado's goaltending could use a jolt. Darcy Kuemper has an 11-5-0 record, but also hasn't been perfect, as his .904 SV% displays. Jonas Johansson has struggled more, however. In nine starts, he has a 3-2-1 record, 3.73 GAA and .885 SV%. If Francouz can find his previous form, he's a major upgrade over Johansson to be the team's backup.
It's hard not to feel happy for Francouz. The Czech goaltender has been through a lot, but now, he is finally back!
