Colorado Avalanche Place Goaltender On Waivers

The Colorado Avalanche have placed goaltender Jonas Johansson on waivers.

Hockey fans could have seen this one coming, as it was announced on Sunday that the Avalanche recalled goaltender Pavel Francouz. The 31-year-old is finally ready to go after over a year of being out of action. Johansson is probably better off as a third-string goaltender and will be joining the Colorado Eagles if he goes unclaimed.

In nine games this season with the Avalanche, Johansson has a 3-2-1 record, .885 SV% and 3.73 GAA. He had trouble replicating the success he had last season after being acquired by Colorado from the Buffalo Sabres. In eight appearances after the trade, he sported a 5-1-1 record and .913 SV%.

Speaking of Buffalo, they surely could be a team who goes out and brings Johansson back. At this time, they have multiple goaltenders injured. Although he wouldn't be their starting goaltender, it would give the Sabres more options to work with. If not Buffalo, perhaps another team could give him a shot. We will have to wait and see what occurs.

In 30 NHL games, Johansson has a 9-11-4 record, 3.09 GAA and .893 SV%.
