Smith has been out for over two months due to an undisclosed injury. Yet, even with Edmonton being without their top goaltender, they still managed to stay good. At this time, they have an 18-11-0 record and certainly are a playoff team. Even with this being the case, they have been cooling off as of late, so Smith returning is truly needed.
Before his injury, Smith was off to another very good start for the Oilers this season. In three games, he sported a 2-0-0 record, 3.08 GAA and .920 SV%. During the previous season with the team, he also went 21-6-2 record, while also possessing a .923 SV% and 2.31 GAA.
It's just great to see the 39-year-old finally coming back. Let's see how Edmonton performs from here as a result of this.
