Florida Panthers Receive Great News Ahead of Tuesday's Game

After eight long games, the Florida Panthers are set to welcome back their captain and best player, Aleksander Barkov. The Finnish forward has been out of the lineup nursing a lower-body injury.

The Panthers expect to have Spencer Knight between the pipes for Tuesday's affair with the St Louis Blues and also appear set for the return of defenseman Gustav Forsling as well.

As for Barkov, he went knee-on-knee with defenseman Scott Mayfield of the New York Islanders back in mid-November. While he certainly let a giant hole in their lineup, the Panthers managed to go 6-2 without their captain in the lineup. Certainly impressive stuff coming out of Florida of late.

In the 15 games he's appeared in, Barkov has recorded 17 points. He plays both sides of the puck, he's a complete threat and is one of the league's best players. As for the Panthers opponent, they visit the Blues in St Louis and get prepared for a short-handed group. The Blues are down several players and don't even have enough players to dress a full squad and will be going with their back up netminder, 10 forwards and 7 defenseman.

Forward Robert Thomas is the latest Blues player to be out and he joins the likes of David Perron (upper-body), James Neal (upper-body), Klim Kostin (upper-body) on the sidelines due to injuries, while Jordan Binnington, Justin Faulk and Tyler Bozak remain in COVID-19 protocols. Barkov and the Panthers better take advantage or else they missed a gaping opportunity.
