Jets' Neal Pionk To Have Hearing For Kneeing
Winnipeg Jets defenseman Neal Pionk will have a hearing on Monday for kneeing Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Rasmus Sandin.
When looking at the play, there's no question that Pionk does land a hard knee-on-knee hit on Sandin. At this time, the Maple Leafs have not provided an update regarding Sandin's condition, but we hope that the young defenseman is okay.
Pionk's hit also led to a retaliatory play from veteran forward Jason Spezza. The 38-year-old center, who is primarily known for playing a clean game, has an in-person hearing for kneeing Pionk in the head later on in the contest.
Ultimately, both of their plays have no place in the game. When the Maple Leafs and Jets play again on March 31st, 2022, don't be surprised to see these two teams play another high intensity game. How many games will Neal Pionk & Jason Spezza get?@NHLPlayerSafety pic.twitter.com/cTs5p0puB5
