Kings' Brendan Lemieux Suspended Five Games For Biting

Los Angeles Kings' forward Brendan Lemieux has received a five-game suspension for biting Ottawa Senators' captain Brady Tkachuk.
When NHL Player Safety offered Lemieux an in-person hearing, it was easy to tell that he was going to get a lengthy penalty. This kind of hearing allows the league to suspend a player for more than five games, so it certainly could have been a lot worse for the winger.

Still, five games isn't a small suspension and is the second longest from this season. Trade target Evander Kane, of course, has the dubious honor, as he was suspended 21 games for faking a vaccination card.

Lemieux's actions certainly warranted a suspension, as you can't just chomp down on an opponent's hand. It's a shame these two teams don't play one another for the rest of the season, as it would have been very entertaining to see an inevitable fight between Lemieux and Tkachuk. Alas, we will have to wait until next year for that.
