Kraken's Mark Giordano Opens Up About Playing Future

Mark Giordano may be 38 years old, but he has no desire to retire any time soon. The Seattle Kraken captain told Dan Robson and Hailey Salvian of The Athletic that he plans to keep playing in the NHL until teams are no longer interested in him.

When looking at Giordano's resume in the league, he certainly could continue to receive interest from other teams for quite some time. The veteran defenseman of course just finished 15 seasons with the Calgary Flames and also was their captain for 11 of them. With that, he is also a three-time All-Star (2015, 2016, 2020), Norris Trophy winner (2019) and made the NHL First All-Star Team in 2019 as well. That's not too bad at all from a player who originally went undrafted.

In 19 games with the Kraken so far this season, he has three goals and seven points. Time will tell if the Kraken decide to move the veteran at the trade deadline, as he has an expiring contract. If made available, don't be surprised to see the Flames aim to acquire him. The same can be said with free agency, too.
