Montreal Canadiens Claim Defenseman Off Waivers

The Montreal Canadiens have claimed defenseman Kale Clague off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings.

The Kings surprisingly waived Clague on Friday afternoon. When it was originally announced, it wasn't hard to predict that the 23-year-old defenseman would end up finding a new home. He has a lot of upside and teams certainly are looking for depth with all of their injury and illness problems.

Clague also looked pretty good this season with the Kings this season, as he had five assists in 11 games. With that, he's recorded 11 assists in 33 career games. Therefore, he has shown promise as an offensive defenseman and now he should have an even better chance to show that with the Canadiens.

Due to their placement in the standings, the Canadiens had a pretty good shot of claiming Clague and now they successfully have. Here's to hoping he's given more chances to play as a member of Montreal.
