Montreal Canadiens To Be Without Three More Forwards

The injury bug is continuing to hit the Montreal Canadiens. They now have placed forwards Joel Armia and Mathieu Perreault on injured reserve. With that, Artturi Lehkonen has also been placed in COVID-19 protocol.

Fresh off of signing a four-year, $13.6 million contract over the summer, Armia has struggled significantly this season. In 29 games, he has just a goal and five points. One has to assume that the 28-year-old winger will be able to turn things around once he's healthy again, but it is still concerning that he isn't producing well while sporting a $3.4 million cap hit.

Perreault finds himself out of the lineup again after missing all of November with an eye injury. Since returning from it, the 33-year-old noticeably cooled off, as he failed to record a point in nine contests. In 14 games so far with the Canadiens, he has scored three goals and added an assist.

Lehkonen is just one of a plethora of players who have entered the NHL's COVID-19 protocol over these last few days. In 31 games this season, the 26-year-old winger has scored four goals and recorded 11 points. Overall, it hasn't been too bad of a season for him, as he's sixth on the team in scoring.

Here's to hoping all three of these forwards are able to return for Montreal soon.
