New York Islanders To Terminate Forward's Contract
For the second time this season, the New York Islanders are terminating a forward's contract. First it was veteran Leo Komarov and now it's 26-year-old winger Anatolii Golyshev.
Hearing Anatolii Golyshev will be on unconditional waivers in the next few days. Likely headed back to the KHL. #Isles opted not to use him during their COVID woes, not much incentive to stick around.

It's also been reported that Golyshev is currently on waivers.
After a lengthy tenure with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg of the KHL, Golyshev finally made the move to North America this past March after signing a one-year contract with the Islanders. The Islanders originally drafted him 95th overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and held his rights.
It certainly seemed possible that Golyshev could have made the jump to the NHL, as he had multiple strong seasons in Russia. In 369 games with Avtomobilist, he had 103 goals and 208 points. His best year during the 2015-16 campaign, as he scored 25 goals and had 44 points in 56 games.
With the Islanders struggling so mightily this season, some fans wondered if they should have called up Golyshev. In 15 games with the Bridgeport Islanders, he had five goals and seven points. Yet, a call-up will now not happen, as his time with the organization is coming to a close.
