New York Rangers Provide Update On Igor Shesterkin
In Friday night's game against the San Jose Sharks, New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin left early without putting weight on his right leg. Naturally, it caused fans to panic, but thankfully, it may not be as bad as it appeared. The 25-year-old has been placed on injured reserve and will be out for at least a week.
#NYR have also recalled F Morgan Barron from Hartford and placed Igor Shesterkin on IR.

Shesterkin must miss at least a week, which means the next three games at a minimum.
It's Alexandar Georgiev's show for now.
If the injury was more severe, Shesterkin would very likely have been placed on LTIR. Therefore, although it certainly stings that the Rangers will be without their top goalie, they should have him back in less than a month if all goes well with his recovery.
Shesterkin has been marvelous this season, as he sports a 13-3-2 record, 2.05 GAA and .937 SV%. His backup Alexandar Georgiev, however, has not been too hot thus far. He does have a 2-1-1 record, but that .867 SV% is very rough. The Rangers' offense will have to put in extra week without their star goaltender in net.
Here's to hoping Igor has a speedy recovery and can be back on the ice soon. He's one entertaining goalie when playing!
