NHL Rumors: Big Changes Coming to the Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers had huge expectations going into this season after a slew of offseason moves. So far in 2021-22 however it's been nothing but disappointment felt for the franchise and from the sounds of it some major changes could be on the way.

Head coach Alain Vigneault is certainly on the hot seat and from the sounds of it the replacement has already been notified

The Flyers sit 8-9-4 on the season, good for seventh place in their division. It's going to be a long road ahead if they want to turn things around and make the playoffs and the team is going to need to get some healthy bodies back to do so. Regardless, there's no excuses in the 'what have you done for me lately' business and Vigneault had this to say recently to the media about righting the ship:

I'm not satisfied about anything here. We have to find ways to win games here. This is serious. We're not scoring. Right now, we're not finishing, so we're going to have to find ways to win games 1-0 and 2-1 until we get some of that finish that I know some of these players have. Right now, we're not seeing it, we're not executing it. I'm not satisfied about anything here. We have to find ways to win games here. This is serious. We're not scoring. Right now, we're not finishing, so we're going to have to find ways to win games 1-0 and 2-1 until we get some of that finish that I know some of these players have. The Flyers have one of the worst offenses in the league and rank among the league's worst for goals scored. There's a giant spotlight on the team right now and if they aren't able to get back to their winning ways, AV could be looking for work.

Another thing to watch with the Flyers is the future of Claude Giroux. If things continue to go sour this season in Philly, the team is expected to ask the veteran to waive his no-movement clause. The 33-year-old is a pending free-agent who is making $8.27 million on the cap.  Giroux leads the team with 18 points in 21 games so far this season and there's been some rumblings on where he would accept to play for the remainder of the season. The Colorado Avalanche and Boston Bruins are two teams to watch for in the Giroux sweepstakes.

The Flyers are 2-6-2 in their last 10 games. If things don't change directions in the very near future, expect to see some interesting headlines come out of the city of Brotherly love.
