NHL Rumors: Ducks Could Trade Longtime Forward

Since the offseason, Anaheim Ducks' forward Rickard Rakell has been in the rumor mill. Even with the Ducks currently having a solid 13-8-3 record, the 28-year-old could still be moved this season, according to Frank Seravalli.

Rakell is in the final year of his contract and is eligible for unrestricted free agency next season. He also sports a very affordable $3.8 million cap hit and can play all three forward positions. If he is officially shopped by Anaheim once we inch closer to the deadline, there would be a ton of takers because of all of this.

Rakell is off to a very good start this campaign with Anaheim, as he has seven goals and nine points in 14 games. If he continues to score at that pace, it only would heighten his trade value, too.

Rakell has spent all 10 of his NHL seasons with the Ducks. In 513 games, he has 145 goals, 175 assists and 320 points. With this, it would be strange to see him play for another franchise. However, if the Ducks begin to fall back down to Earth and once again play like a rebuilder, he surely will find a new home.
